Take a Seat

i always loved finding my place card at a wedding... it is just part of what makes you feel honored to be there. here are some great ideas.great for a fall wedding on a farm in the midwest.

love how colorful these are and how they use the kermit mums as a little carpet.
i could see these at a napa, cali wedding on a vineyard.

river rocks are so cute and will still look nice ones the cards are all removed.

Nothing Beats a Great Outdoor Space

sort of a little island oasis in a nice grassy yard. just enough space for sunbathing while sipping a margarita. gotta love that.
this just looks amazing! love the built in fireplace and large sliding glass doors. i also love the colors... they fit so well in the natural surroundings.
hints of bali and colors that pop.
this is the perfect little nook. tuscan villa inspired with large gorgeous pots of perennials. the little hanging votives add great evening lighting.
i want a fire bowl. love this rich dark wood and the views are heavenly.

Sugar is my Middle Name

when i was a kid, all i ever wanted to eat was candy. i snuck treats from my sisters' secret drawers and stuffed candy wrappers in couch cushions. i had sugar running through my veins and my favorite place was the door county confectionery.
some of my favorites include: flying saucers, sour patch kids (anything sour really), smarties, sweet tarts, skittles, salt water taffy, candy cigarettes, lemonheads, pixie sticks... well, i could go on forever.

getting to the point... candy needs a presence at our wedding. so, i think i have decided on a candy and cupcake table. i was thinking about sticking with the wedding colors, but that really limits the options. so, we'll see. any thoughts? would a rainbow of colors ruin the whole theme??

Location, Location, Location

we knew we wanted to get married in the mountains. estes park seemed like the perfect place... not too far, not too "aspen," not too small, but just right. we have been there several times together and also love the hikes in rocky mtn national and the strolls along elkhorn ave. the little fudge shops and cozy lodges remind me of the north woods of wisconsin, where i spent many summers as a kid. i found mary's lake lodge online and the minute i saw it in person i knew it was the place.
love this shop with the deep blue sky. it should be cozy and rustically beautiful. and the best part is that our guests can stay in the lodge or condos and party all night long.

New Love for J.Crew

i was never one to eat up those khakis with the little embroidered turtles. i guess i just didn't understand. must have been too east coast for me. but recently i discovered their wedding collection and a new love formed. i am pretty sure my bridesmaids will be shopping there for their dresses. i swear, you can really wear them again.

this one in navy would be pretty great. love the neckline and length.

l.n.d. (little navy dress)
truly flattering on everyone. my maids will appreciate that.

Kermit

i knew i didn't want red. there is already too much black in my life. and pink was way out of the question. then i found it, chartreuse. its just a nice change from what everyone else does and it seems to fit in colorado. especially next to stone grey and navy. so, those are my wedding colors.

that was how i discovered green mums. and to my delight, found out that they are called "kermit mums." precious. lately i have been seeing them at the market and in bouquets. so it appears to be a good time of year to find them.

Introductions

i am a blogger virgin. but since i am semi-obsessed with reading wedding blogs, i thought it was appropriate to create one of my own. i work in marketing and dream of owning my own business. i got engaged a few months ago and am getting married in about a year... June 19, 2010 to be exact.

i fell in love with colorado the moment i arrived here four years ago. a month later, i met chris. as cliche as it sounds... the rest is history. he proposed on a sunny winter day in the stunning rocky mountains. we were snowshoeing and he got down on one knee in the crisp white flakes, under the blue sky and towering evergreens. soon after i discovered style me pretty, and became obsessed.

i plan to post ideas and inspiration for the wedding and for life in general. of course, i am blocked from this site at work, so it makes it a little harder to post often. but that is the plan. cheers.
